Things You Need to Know on Wall Decals

#1:  Design

Choosing a design. I can’t decide. I like them all!
The best part of using wall decal is that you can just remove it once you got bored with it and start all over again. So choose one and keep the rest in mind for your next DIY session.

#2:  Color

My walls are green in color, what color should I pick for my decal?
Consider the effect of the additional color(s) on the appearance and mood of the room. With the right colors, wall decals can instantly transform your space.

#3: Position

How/Where do I place the decal?

You may use the decal to flank the focal point or complement with balance to the focal point.

The focal point in this living room is the canvas.

The focal point of this room is this white cabinet.

Here is another example of using wall decal as the focal point.

Once you have determined the focal point of the room, start planning the balance for your layout. There are three styles of balance that you can opt to: symmetrical, asymmetrical, and radial. Usually you can spot a symmetrical balance in a traditional interior where the one side of the vertical axis is the exact mirror of the other.

Asymmetrical balance is more appropriate in the design these days and it can be achieved with objects that have equal visual weight or eye attraction. This balance is more casual and less contrived in feeling. It suggests movement, and leads to livelier interior.

Not often radial balance is employed in interiors, however it can provide an interesting counterpoint if planned suitably.

Tips : Use a level tool to measure the accuracy.

After receiving a forwarded email from a good friend, I decided to go and checkout the Macy Annual Warehouse Clearance sale last Saturday. I missed the one they did last year, so I was determined to see whether the items for sale is really value for money and worth checking out..

The Venue

Quite easy to find, there were buntings on lamp posts directing you straight to the warehouse
from the main road..

Sale Area

I have been to a number of warehouse sales, and the image of eager, determined, pushing crowds always came to mind. But here, the organizers are very organized and everyone seems to shop at ease. (Especially with the hard to believe prices!). No worries, there were quite a number of cash registers to accommodate the number of visitors, cash and credit card (of course) are accepted.

The items on sale varies from sofas, chairs, tables, mattresses, lots of ottomans, home accessories (such as cushions, candles, modern glass vases), bedding, curtains, lighting and so much more!

Another interesting fact: If you are lucky, the items that you want might be AUCTIONED and the price will be lower than the one stated on the price tag!

They were so many things to choose from, but here are some of my favourite items on sale…

The Verdict

In the end, I finished my bargain-hunting day with a nice wooden jewellery box for just RM17.00 (Normal price was RM59.00) and a large rug/carpet for RM150.00 (Normal price was RM300). Overall, it was a great event, looking forward to it next year. For those of you who missed it, no worries, just join MACY’s Facebook page, and they will keep you updated on future events.
